| Posted on 10/30/2016 6:58:06 PM 2955 days ago | I run a 7x24 trivia room. For a long time I was running TriviaMaster 3.2 until the computer fried and had to be replaced with a laptop. Activation didn't let me re-use the 3.2 version, I was forced to buy TM again. So now I'm running TM 3.5.04 build 333312, PalTalk 11.8 build 656, on a clean and fresh install of Windows 10 Home with nothing else installed but Windows Defender (yes, I know it's not the best!)
Problem: TM keeps randomly stopping, with no message and no apparent reason. The START button is still grayed so it is as though it is still running. To get it going again, I have to either hit STOP and START, or issue the !stop and !start commands.
This problem only happened a few times per month with the old version, but with the current version it's constant: just yesterday it randomly stopped 6 times. |

Not Windows backup, I have a scheduled batch file that uses pkzip to create periodic backups of the MDB files, so I can keep historical backup copies. This proved to hang up TriviaMaster during the zipping process.
Then I changed the batch file's method by first copying the source MDB files to a staging directory, then I zip the staging copies. This fixed the random stops. |
